Welcome to the NC High Country Press Kit! The NC High Country is comprised of the small towns of Boone, Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, Beech Mountain, West Jefferson, Wilkesboro and Sparta, North Carolina. There are many other smaller communities in between these towns, tucked into the valleys and be the rivers! This region encompasses the true mountains of North Carolina, more miles of the Blue Ridge Parkway than any other region and is known for outdoor adventure and cultural heritage. Any season you choose to visit, you will find unique activities.

WINTER
Enjoy snow tubing at the largest snow tubing park on the East Coast, ski or snowboard at Appalachian Ski Mountain or sled at the highest town on the East Coast, Beech Mountain.

SPRING
See a myriad of rare flowers bloom at Grandfather Mountain, an international biosphere reserve and enjoy an international award-winning wine after canoeing the second oldest river in the world!

SUMMER
Take advantage of our cool temperatures and hike the highest peaks on the Blue Ridge Parkway or bike over 40 miles of mountain biking trails. Finish off the day by catching some live mountain music.

FALL
Visit one of our world-famous festivals, pick your own apples at a historic orchard and drive a country back road to admire the fall colors.
