Seven Devils NC Day Trip
Conveniently located halfway between Boone NC and Banner Elk NC, Seven Devils North Carolina is a hidden treasure. Named for the sound of the wind blowing across the mountains in the wintertime, the town was developed as a year-round resort destination in the 1960's. Here are a few things to do in the area for the the day:
Otter Falls
Start your day with a 1.2 mile hike to Otter Falls. This is the newest waterfall trail in the NC High Country and is a moderately strenuous loop trail that descends 230 feet. The trail leads you through a cool mountain forest to the cascades. For the trail map, click HERE
Hawksnest Zipline
Located on the same road as the Otter Falls trailhead, Hawksnest Zipline is one of the longest zipline courses in the US! Hawksnest has 20 ziplines with 4 miles of runs at heights over 200 feet and speeds up to 50 mph.
Ziplining atop Seven Devils is a great way to catch panoramic views of the mountains and a cool breeze. Reservations are required, so call or book online in advance.
The Pedalin' Pig BBQ
After flying through the trees, head down the mountain for lunch. This restaurant is a local favorite. The BBQ pits are fired up nightly, slow-roasting locally sourced meats over hickory smoked hardwoods.

Located just a couple minutes from Pedalin' Pig is a High Country hidden treasure. Dewoolfson Down has been creating European quality down comforters, pillows and featherbeds in the High Country for over 35 years. Grandfather Trout Farm
Located near the base of Seven Devils, fishing at Grandfather Trout Farm is a relaxing way to end the day. The farm provides FREE equipment, FREE tackle, and FREE bait.
You can fish 3 pond sizes, stocked with Rainbow Trout. If you want to take your catch home for dinner, you can pay for only what you catch and they will clean the fish for you.
