  1. LEATHERWOOD MOUNTAINS
    Ferguson NC

    Located 15 minutes from Blowing Rock and 20 minutes from Wilkesboro, Leatherwood Mountains was built around a love of horses. The equine center offers full service boarding including 60 stalls, outdoor show-sized riding ring, a generous covered and lighted arena for riding in less than ideal conditions, horseback riding lessons and a training program, guided trail riding services, and events year round. People from all over the southeast come to Leatherwood to ride on some of the most scenic North Carolina horseback riding trails in the mountains.

    GUIDED TRAIL RIDES
    Ride seasoned trail horses or mules and experience the outdoors in a relaxed, unhurried manner. Beginner horseback riders are always welcome. Young or old, experienced or not, practically everyone can ride one of our horses or mules. 

  2. BROYHILL EQUESTRIAN PRESERVE
    Blowing Rock NC

    Considered the oldest charity horse show in the US, the preserve has been holding horse shows here in the summers for almost 100 years!  You can see horses compete here from all over the world in shows from "Hunters & Jumpers" to "Quarter Horse" rides. The preserve has great boxes for spectating and food available.  The grounds are always decorated beautifully with flowers and buntings.

  3. MOSES CONE CARRIAGE TRAILS
    Blowing Rock NC

    Part of the National Park Service and the Blue Ridge Parkway, Moses Cone created the carriage trails to entertain guests staying at his summer home in Blowing Rock NC.  The trails are still entertaining guests on horseback and in carriages year round.  There are 25 miles of carriage trails and only a few miles are restricted to foot traffic only.
