Fly Fishing Boone NC Mountains

Fly Fishing is a very popular past time (and even a sport!) in the NC Mountains.  The NC High Country around Boone NC, Blowing Rock, West Jefferson and Banner Elk is particularly popular for fly fishing due to the easy access to rivers in the area.  Whether you are a seasoned fly fisher or would like to book a guided float trip, we have you covered in the High Country!

HIGH COUNTRY RIVERS

HEADWATERS

The NC High Country is geographically known for being the headwaters for a few popular rivers (view this article from 1886!). You can find the headwaters of the South Fork of the New River, the second oldest river in the world, at Green Park Inn of Blowing Rock.  The headwaters for the Watauga and Elk Rivers start along the base of Grandfather Mountain and can be seen from the Profile Trail at Grandfather Mountain State Park.  The Yadkin River, one of the longest rivers in North Carolina, begins near the Thunder Hill Overlook (Milepost 290.4) on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
