Designed in 1959 by Ellis Maples, architect of some of the South’s finest courses, Boone Golf Club is portrayed to be one of the top rated public courses in the area. Open April-November.

The course layout has a great combination utilizing the High Country’s beautiful landscape and spectacular scenery one is sure to remember.

The front nine is more of a links style course with small bent grass greens and relatively flat open fairways. The back nine works it way up to what was once referred to as “Cranberry Draw”. The 11th hole uphill dog-leg left was rated as one of the best par 4’s in Western North Carolina. Holes 14 thru 18 work their way back down “Cranberry Draw” and return to the clubhouse.

Sugar Mountain Golf Club may be the best kept secret in mountain golf, but not for long. Located just minutes from Boone, Banner Elk and the Blue Ridge Parkway, the 18-hole municipal course is "Everyman's Golf Course" in a region home to some of the world's premiere private country club communities. The fabulous golf course opened for play in 1974, the design of Frank Duane, previously the senior project manager for more than two decades for Robert Trent Jones, the undisputed dean of golf course architecture.

The par-64 layout maximizes every view, every mountain brook, and every stand of rhododendron and forest on the 60-acre site. The course features nine par threes, eight par fours, and a single par five.
