  See the ball drop at the Horton Hotel from across the road!  The Jones House lawn is a great viewing location.  *Cannot view from inside the Horton Hotel, but the Horton Lounge will be open from 12pm-12:30am.

• Noon Years Eve
  Where: Appalachian Theatre, Downtown Boone
  
  A family-friendly countdown to 2025 featuring a special pre-30th Anniversary screening of the original Toy Story (1995). Following the film, the party continues with a countdown to mock New Year's Eve including photo booth, party favors, sparkling cider toast and a balloon drop. The event begins at 12 noon and doors open at 11:30 a.m. Adult general admission tickets are $10. A specially priced $5 ticket is available for children 12 and younger. Both tickets include admission to the film and the after party.

• New Year's Day Sunrise
  Where: Grandfather Mountain, Linville
  Ring in an epic New Year on Saturday, Jan. 1, for the first sunrise of 2023 — atop Grandfather Mountain.This special event will allow guests the rare opportunity to visit Grandfather Mountain outside of regular operating hours and on a holiday.

• First Day Hike
  Where: Rendezvous State Park, Purlear
  Meet at the park office, (two story cabin building) for a Ranger led one mile stroll through the mountains mixed hardwood forest.  This Ranger led program will last approximately one hour while we stop and discuss Rendezvous Mountain's history.

• First Day Hike
  Where: Stone Mountain State Park, Roaring Gap
  Meet at the lower trailhead at 9am for a 2.5 mile hike on the Wolf Rock/ Cedar Rock trail

• First Day Scavenger Hunt
  Where: Boone Fork Parking Area (Blue Ridge Parkway MM 299.9), Blowing Rock
  Meet a ranger from 9:30-12 to grab a scavenger hunt to complete on the 2.5 mile Nuwati Trail!
