Ice Skating High Country NC Mountains
There are three ice skating rinks in the NC High Country near Boone, Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, Beech Mountain and Sugar Mountain. The rinks are located at App Ski Mountain, Beech Mountain Resort and Sugar Mountain Resorts. Find out more about ice skating at these three rinks and choose the perfect one for your adventure:
Appalachian Ice Arena
App Ski Mtn, Blowing Rock, NC
ABOUT: The outdoor ice arena has a refrigerated ice floor, and is fully-lighted for skating under the stars seven nights a week. It is the only ski area in North Carolina with a Zamboni to cut the ice floor on its ice skating rink.
HOURS: 3 sessions daily: 12-2pm, 3-5pm and 7-9pm
RENTALS: Figure Skates, Hockey Skates
COST: $18-$24
OTHER AMENITIES:
- Private Lessons Available: $40 for 1/2 hr
- Rink-side bonfire available for skaters and non-skaters

ABOUT: The 10,000 square foot refrigerated outdoor ice rink is open 7 days a week during ski season.
HOURS: Sessions at 10am, 12pm, 2pm, 4pm, 6pm, and 8pm
RENTALS: Figure Skates, Hockey Skates
COST: $19-$26 (4 years of age free with adult purchase)
OTHER AMENITIES:
- Private Lessons Available: $70 for 1 hr
