Sculpture Blowing Rock NC
Sculpture is becoming more prominent in Blowing Rock NC with a new sculpture arriving almost yearly now! Here is sculpture walk guide for Blowing Rock North Carolina:
Blowing Rock Public Library
Rightfully located in front of the Blowing Rock Library is "Jessie," a young girl reading a storybook. The bronze statue was created by Charlotte sculptor Cantey T. Kelleher and donated to the library by the Tomlinson family in honor of Grace Carr, a longtime librarian in Blowing Rock.
Many days you will see children (and adults) sitting on the bench with Jessie having a photo made!
"Elliott Daingerfield en plein air"
Edgewood Cottage, Blowing Rock
The full size bronze sculpture was created by local artist Brenda Councill in honor of Daingerfield's legacy. The cottage was Daingerfield's summer workshop and home.
Edgewood Cottage is now home to rotating artists during the warmer months. Many days in the summer, artists can be found on the porch painting just like Daingerfield once would have.
North Main Street, Blowing Rock NC
This large kenetic sculpture by Mike Roig can be found at the "entrance" to downtown Blowing Rock, right before you pass the entrance to Chetola Resort.
To visit the sculpture, park in the new Middle Fork Greenway lot in front of Tanger Outlets and walk down the sidewalk.
"On the Fence"
Tanger Outlets, Blowing Rock
This epoxy statue was created by Greensboro, NC artist Michiel Vandersommen. The sculpture depicts two young people in their late teens or early 20’s thinking over “life”, and the fact that one has a choice to make in life. Life can go either way, but one can make a choice at a young age.
The statue can be found in the newly renovated Tanger Outlet Courtyard. The courtyard has outdoor games such as a giant chess board & connect four, a fire pit, lounge chairs...and live entertainment throughout the year.
