NC High Country Campgrounds

NC High Country Campgrounds

Camping in the North Carolina Mountains is one of the most popular activities along the Blue Ridge Parkway! The cool summer temperatures and easy access to other outdoor activities make the High Country Region your best stop for camping.

When camping in the NC High Country, keep in mind the weather can change drastically in the mountains.  Temperatures can drop 40 degrees in an hour, or a rain storm can blow in unexpectedly, so bring clothing of all sorts.  Remember, you are in the woods that other animals call home.  Bring bags to remove your own trash and air tight containers for areas with bear sightings.  If you are bringing your own firewood, note that wood from certain states might be banned due to insect infestations. Also, remember to look at the amenities offered at campgrounds.   Not all campgrounds offer showers, etc!
