High Country Veterans Day Celebrations 2025
Veterans Day Celebrations will be happening throughout the NC High Country! To all the veterans- THANK YOU for your service. Here is a list of events happening in the Boone, Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, Beech Mountain, West Jefferson, Wilkesboro Area:
- VETERANS DAY EVENT
November 1, 10-2pm, Hickory Ridge Living History Museum, Boone
Throughout the day, guests can explore a small Continental Army encampment, engage with ongoing living history demonstrations, and learn more about Revolutionary War genealogy and patriot heritage through booths hosted by the Sons of the American Revolution and Daughters of the American Revolution.
This is a family-friendly, educational experience designed to connect the public with the military and civilian stories that shaped the founding of our country. For more details, click HERE
- US ARMY JAZZ AMBASSADORS
November 2, 3-5:30pm, Appalachian Theatre, Downtown Boone
The U.S. Army’s premier big band, was formed in 1969 and is celebrated both nationally and internationally for performing America’s original art form—jazz. Known as “America’s Big Band,” this 19-member ensemble showcases versatile programming, including classic big band standards, solos, patriotic tunes, contemporary jazz, and original compositions by its members.
- FLAG RETIREMENT CEREMONY
November 8, 10am, Original Mast General Store, Valle Crucis
If you have a US flag in need of retirement, drop it off at the Mast Stores in Boone or Valle Crucis before October 30. Members of the public, active military personnel, and all veterans are invited to attend the ceremony.
- VETERAN'S DAY PROGRAM

Come out for a time of fellowship with other Veterans and their families. Light refreshments will be provided. Brief program/ceremony starting at 10am.
- VETERAN'S DAY COMMEMORATION
November 11, 11am, Boone Mall, Boone
The ceremony will include participation of the Watauga Community Band offering a prelude concert commencing at 10:30. At 11:00, Watauga High School Marine Corps JROTC Color Guard will present the Colors. The Pledge of Allegiance, National Anthem and Invocation will follow with brief remarks honoring those who have served our Nation.
