  • Elf on the Shelf Scavenger Hunt
    Nov 4- Dec 24, Tanger Outlets, Blowing Rock
    Experience holiday magic with Elf on the Shelf at Tanger Outlets Blowing Rock!  Stop in Shopper Services to pick up your Elf on the Shelf activity book and use the clues to find the hidden scout elves. After completing the activity booklet and scavenger hunt, families can return to Shopper Services and enter to win a $250 gift card now through December 24th!   The Elf on the Shelf activity booklet and scavenger hunt is free for families.

 

  • Apple Hill Farm Christmas Celebration
    Wednesdays to Sundays through Jan 2
    Take a guided walking tour of a working alpaca farm! The tours are 45 to 60 minutes in length, and advanced tickets are REQUIRED.   Apple Hill Farm is home to many animals including alpacas, llamas, angora goats, donkeys, and more! Everyone has a job and a story. After the tour you can visit the gift shop and find unique gifts made from alpaca fiber, plus lots of local artisan crafts and foods.   • Light up Downtown
    Friday, November 18th, 6-9pm in downtown North Wilkesboro
    Late hours for stores, Christmas lights and music and a visit from Santa Claus are planned on the night of Nov. 19th in downtown North Wilkesboro. Both downtowns are being decorated for Christmas, including a large Christmas tree on the Wilkes Heritage Museum front lawn in Wilkesboro. Horse-drawn carriage rides through downtown North Wilkesboro will be offered Nov. 19 and 20. Celebrate the season with family and friends and enjoy twinkling lights and festive window displays. Be sure and bring a comfy blanket to keep you and yours warm for the ride. 

 

  • West Jefferson Holiday Parade & Light up the Town
    November 19th, 3pm
    Come to the Downtown West Jefferson NC 2021 annual holiday parade! Local bands, dance groups, churches, businesses, fire/rescue trucks, police cars & more participate in the parade each year.-- And of course, Santa will be there to welcome in the holiday season. 

 

  • Ashe County Holiday Farmer's Markets
    Saturdays, November 19- December 3, 10am-2pm, West Jefferson Backstreet
    Come and find unique gifts and holiday decorations. Featured at the Holiday Market will be locally grown and handcrafted Christmas wreaths, trees, roping, crafts, baked goods, crafts and much more. For more information, click HERE

 

  • Beech Mountain Sledding Hill
    Nov 24-Feb (weather permitting) M-F: 1-5pm; Holidays & Weekends: 9am-5pm

  • Blowing Rock NC Christmas Festival & Lighting of the Town
    November 25, 12-6:30pm
    12-3: Meet Santa for photos, 1:30-4:30: Carnival Games in Memorial Park, 2-6:30: Live Music, 5:30: Lighting of the Town

 

  • Annual Hometown Christmas 
    November 25, 5-7pm, Downtown West Jefferson
    Watch the official lighting of the Downtown West Jefferson NC Christmas tree.  Stay for a while and visit Santa, join carolers, sip hot chocolate, have your picture made at the caboose, and take ride on the 1947 fire truck with your family and friends.

 

  • SPARTA LIGHTING OF THE TOWN

    The courthouse Christmas tree and displays around town will be lit up for the season!  Enjoy a stroll through town after dinner.

 

  • West Jefferson NC Tree Fest
    November 25- December 31, Ashe County Arts Council
    See 8 thematically decorated Christmas trees (starting Nov 24), Holiday gift shop with locally-made art and crafts onsite as well.

 

  • Beech Mountain Holiday Market
    November 26, 10-4pm @ Buckeye Recreation Center, Beech Mountain
    Get a jump start on holiday arts and crafts at the Holiday Market held at Buckeye Recreation Center. Start your holiday shopping with locally made crafts, jewelry, food and art.   • Blowing Rock NC Christmas Parade
    November 26, 10am-12pm
    Held on Main Street in Blowing Rock, this small town parade in one of the longest in the state and features community floats, music, antique cars and much more!

 

  • SPARTA HOMETOWN CHRISTMAS PARADE
    November 26 @ 2pm
    Homemade floats, marching band, old cars, Boy & Girl Scouts, fire trucks, horseback riders and others parade down Main Street in this traditional small-town event. Bring your own blankets and chairs to set up along the parade route.

 

  • Saturday's with Santa at The Blowing Rock
    November 26- December 17, 1-3pm
    Enjoy a special visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus and enjoy the clear winter views from North Carolina's Oldest Attraction. Free admission for one child and accompanying adult.

 

  • Chetola Resort Festival of Lights
    DAILY November 27-Blowing Rock Winterfest: Dusk
    Chetola Resort becomes a Winter Wonderland with over 50,000 dazzling lights around Chetola lake. Free to public

 

  • Banner Elk Small Town Christmas
    December 2-4
    Friday, Dec. 2: 6:30 p.m. – Christmas Tree Lighting & Caroling at Corner on Main Park, 7:00 p.m.  A Banner Elk Christmas 3 musical variety show at Historic Banner Elk School

    Saturday, Dec. 3
    11:00 a.m. – Holiday market and kids crafts activities at the Cultural Arts Center at Historic Banner Elk School (through 4 p.m.; times may vary), 3:00 p.m. – Community Carol Sing at Banner Elk Presbyterian Church. 
    6:00 p.m. – Festivities in Tate-Evans Park including: luminary-lighted train rides, synchronized Christmas light show, Christmas movie at the amphitheater, hot chocolate and more
    All day – Letters to Santa at the Banner Elk Chamber of Commerce.

     

  • West Jefferson NC Christmas Crawl
    December 2, 4-7pm, Downtown West Jefferson
    Downtown West Jefferson will be decked out in Christmas Joy for the evening Holiday Gallery Crawl. Galleries, shops and more will be open with holiday artwork, refreshments, music and more!!   • Boone NC Festive First Friday & Solar Tree Lighting
    December 2, 5-8pm, Jones House, Downtown Boone
    Help the Town of Boone and the Jones House usher in the holiday season at the annual Festive First Friday and Solar Tree Lighting. Head to Downtown Boone for carriage rides, marshmallow snowball fights, carolers, holiday treats, and more!


  • A Banner Elk Christmas
    December 2, 4, 16, 17, 18
    Enjoy a holiday musical variety show patterned after the Andy Williams and Bing Crosby television Christmas specials with women in beautiful dresses, men in tuxedos, lots of singing, dancing, comedy sketches and more!  To purchase tickets, CLICK HERE

 

  • Saturday with Santa & Tree Fest Open House
    December 3, 8am-11am, Ashe Arts Council
    Come visit the Ashe County Arts Council in Historic Downtown West Jefferson and see eight thematically decorated Christmas trees and miniatures art exhibit. Holiday gift shop with locally-made art and crafts onsite as well. Across town at the Ashe Civic Center will be a visit by Santa and Mrs. Claus.   • Wilkesboro NC Christmas Parade 
    December 3, 3pm, Main Street, North Wilkesboro
    The 2021 Christmas Parade will start at the CBD Loop. The Theme this year will be "A Patriotic Christmas"

 

  • Christmas in the Commons
    December 3, 4:30-8:30, Community Commons & Wilkes Heritage Museum
    At 6 p.m. in front of the Wilkes Heritage Museum, the lighting of the Heritage Square Christmas Tree will take place. A music performance, kids activities, and movie will follow. The Wilkes Heritage Museum Christmas open house will also take place with tours, music, and refreshments offered throughout the day.

 

  • A Carolina Snowbelle Christmas
    December 3, 7:30pm, 4, 2:00 and 6:00 pm, Appalachian Theatre, Downtown Boone
    A Carolina Snowbelle Christmas made its debut in Washington DC at the world-renowned Kennedy Center's Millennium Stages and is now the High Country's newest holiday tradition for the whole family. TICKETS: $30 Gold Circle, $22 Regular, $15 child (under 12)

 

  • HOLIDAY STROLL IN BLOWING ROCK
    December 9, 4-8pm
    Enjoy an evening of Holiday shopping in downtown Blowing Rock with winter lights, Santa Clause, and Carolers!

 

  • Boone NC Christmas Parade
    December 10, 2pm, King Street, Downtown Boone
    The annual Town of Boone Christmas Parade proceeds east on King Street through Downtown Boone. Local businesses and organizations show off their holiday best with floats, marchers, costumes, and performances for this annual holiday tradition - with Santa Claus himself making an appearance at the finale!

 

  • Frosty: A Musical Adventure
    December 16, 2pm and 7pm, Appalachian Theatre, Downtown Boone 
    “Frosty” tells the musical adventure, a young orphan named Billy discovers magic in a stolen hat. When he places the hat on a snowman’s head, that snowman comes to life! Can Frosty help Billy find his real family in time for Christmas? Join them on a thrilling quest through New York City as they discover that the real magic of the Season is Love.

 

  • Mountain Home Music Holiday Concert
    December 17, 7pm, Grace Lutheran Church
    This Annual Appalachian Christmas Concert is a gift to the people of the High Country in and around Boone and Blowing Rock, NC and beyond. We celebrate the giving spirit of Mountain Home Music’s founder, Joe Shannon, by honoring Joe’s vision for preserving our traditional mountain music, singing, dancing and spoken word.  The performers all donate their talents to present this JSMHM special concert that serves as a fundraiser for two worthy non-profit charities – The Hospitality House and Santa’s Toy Box.

 

  • Christmas with Elvis
    December 20, 7:30pm, Appalachian Theatre, Downtown Boone
    Come enjoy holiday hits from the one & only King of Rock & Roll delivered by Matt Lewis, the Elvis tribute artist USA Today called "The Best in Las Vegas!". He will be backed by the 12 piece Long Live the King Orchestra, aka, Big Ray & the Kool Kats.
 
  • Beech Mountain Christmas Parade
    December 22, 4pm, "Downtown" Beech Mountain Parkway
    The parade will begin at 4:00 PM departing from the Beech Mountain Resort along Beech Mountain Parkway to the White Wolf Lodge. Set up your chairs along the route and join us at the end of the parade at Town Hall for Santa’s Workshop, where you can enjoy FREE crafts, cookies, cocoa and a photo opportunity with Santa ( * Note: If Parade is cancelled due to inclement weather, Santa’s Workshop will still be open).
