NC High Country Halloween 2021 Activities happen not just on Halloween night.  You can find NC High Country Halloween activities for all ages throughout the month of October 2021!  Here is a list of NC High Country Halloween 2021 events happening:


    Buckeye Recreation Center, Beech Mountain
    Zombies are everywhere! Stock up on candy from our trail or treat and then head out on the haunted trail.


  • Creatures of the Night and Bonfire Delight
    Grandfather Mountain
    Visitors are familiar with Grandfather Mountain’s resident animals, including black bears, bald eagles, cougars, river otters and elk. But what do they do after dark? Find out at this nighttime event that features fun and spooky stories told by firelight, along with rare after-dark tours. For more information, click HERE


  • Haunted Barn

    $10 for maze, $20 for maze and wine flight. *Must be 13 to enter maze


  • Ensemble Stage Presents: War of the Worlds
    Ensemble Stage Theater
    Come witness our interpretation of how the original broadcast went out over the air waves and caused panic in towns all across the country. You'll see and hear the actors perform, complete with sound effects being executed live on stage and supported by projections and lighting effects. However, our adaptation hits much closer to home! Instead of the attacks happening in New York and New Jersey, they'll be happening right here, in your own backyard, with Banner Elk and the NC High-Country as the epicenter of destruction.     We will still provide candy to children with bags being dropped off at Banner Elk School and candy also available at Town Hall on Oct 30 (8:30am -4:30pm) to children who are homeschooled or doing virtual school.


  • Trick-or-Treat Mini Farm Tours
    Apple Hill Farm
    Apple Hill Farm will be leading trick-or-treat mini-tours of the farm on the evenings of October 30 and 31, where guests can come dressed in their Halloween best and collect candy and gifts from the alpacas, llamas, goats, and other animals that call Apple Hill Farm home. On this educational and hands-on mini-tour, your Tour Ghoul will share fun facts about the animals at each stop and safely distribute goodies for each child.. For more information, click HERE


  • Beary Scary Halloween
    Grandfather Mountain
    Join us for a full day of nature programs about animals considered creepy and crawly! This fun-filled day includes an opportunity to create animal enrichment's, trick-or-treating through the animal habitats and a costume contest. Plus, children in costume are admitted at half-price.   • Terror by the River & Wonderland Escape Room
    Wahoo's New River Outpost, Todd
    Fun for everyone including: bonfire's, s'more's, cornhole, music, pumpkin carving, picture prop's, indoor snack and gift shop and much more. Wonderland Escape Room: Like Alice you followed the white rabbit and fell into a rabbit hole, finding yourself stuck in a place called wonderland.   • Blowing Rock Halloween Festival

    Downtown Blowing Rock

    Downtown Boone
    Located in downtown Boone, enjoy  games and crafts at the Watauga County Library, a spooky tour of the Jones House and trick or treating with downtown merchants. For more information, click HERE


  • Boone Mall Trick or Treating
    Boone Mall
    Enjoy trick or treat at the stores in the mall.  Watauga Parks and Rec will have fun games and activities in the center of the mall.  ASU will be taking professional photos of your children dressed up for a fee. For more information, click HERE


  • AppState Trick or Treat for Tots
    Appalachian State University Dorms
    Parents and children will need to check-in at the East Hall parking lot (betweenEast Hall and Hwy. 321) to receive a map and further instructions for the eveningfestivities. Admission is one canned good to be given to a local charity. Parking is available in any campus faculty/staff parking lot. This event is open to community families. Children of all age groups are encouraged to dress in their Halloween costumes to go trick-or-treating through Hoey, Cannon, Lovill, East, Doughton, White, Summit, and Cone residence halls. ASU students will be handing out candy and the hall lobbies will have fun activities designed for all ages. There will also be activities and inflatables on Sanford Mall

  • Trick or Treat Halloween Spooktacular
    Tanger Outlet Mall
    Stores will host a Monster Challenge Scavenger hunt where families find fun clues and complete a scavenger hunt card for a chance to win a $100.00 Tanger Shopping Spree!  A variety of fun activities are planned for the family such as a costume contest, a Touch-A-Truck meet and greet with local fire and police, and even a monster mash dance off in the courtyard.   • Dracula: A Radio Play
    On WASU RADIO 90.5
    Relive the thrills of 1930s radio dramas as the Department of Theatre and Dance and the Department of Communication present a radio broadcast of “Dracula.” Based from the 1897 Gothic horror novel by Irish author Bram Stoker, this new adaptation by Derek Gagnier will feature the vocal talents of Appalachian State University students. Recorded in the style of the “Mercury Theatre On The Air” shows from that era, this classic thriller will keep you on the edge of your seat and glued to your radio! Details HERE
