NC High Country Halloween 2018

NC High Country Halloween 2018 Activities happen not just on Halloween night.  You can find Halloween activities for all ages throughout the month of October!  Here is a list of events happening throughout the NC High Country:


  • Beech Mountain Buckeye-Neer Haunted Experience
    Saturday, 10/26, 5-8pm
    Enjoy a haunted house, trail or treat, foor and other spooky activities at the Buckeye Recreation center atop Beech Mountain. For ages 12 and under. For more information, click HERE


  • Creatures of the Night and Bonfire Delight
    Saturday, 09/29, 6-9:30pm
    Visitors are familiar with Grandfather Mountain’s resident animals, including black bears, bald eagles, cougars, river otters and elk. But what do they do after dark? Find out at this nighttime event that features fun and spooky stories told by firelight, along with rare after-dark tours. For more information, click HERE
  • Ensemble Stage Presents: Frankenstein
    Sat-Sun, 10/26-27, 7pm
    Mary Shelley’s classic tale of horror and suspense sets the mood for your Halloween fears to fester. Performed as a staged radio play, you’ll feel the hair on the back of your neck prickle as the creature speaks his first words and seeks revenge on his creator. For more information, click HERE
  • Banner Elk Trunk or Treat
    Wednesday, 10/31, 5-8pm
    One of the most popular family Halloween events in the North Carolina High Country. Children (and adults) come dressed in costumes for a fun trick-or-treat experience from the trunks of vehicles at the Historic Banner Elk School. The festivities include a costume contest for kids, and a separate contest for four-legged friends. Be sure to check out the haunted house and hay rides.   • Beary Scary Halloween
    Saturday, 10/27, 10:30-3:30
    Join us for a full day of nature programs about animals considered creepy and crawly! This fun-filled day includes an opportunity to create animal enrichment’s, trick-or-treating through the animal habitats and a costume contest. Plus, children in costume are admitted at half-price.   • Spirits of History
    Fri-Sat, 10/05-06, 5pm
    Contact the spirits at Hickory Ridge Living History Museum in Boone. At sun down your Paranormal Investigators will guide you through our cabins as you attempt to contact the other side, plan on investigating until around midnight.  For more information, click HERE
  • Blowing Rock Halloween Festival
    Saturday, 10/27, 3-8:30pm
    FREE activities at the Museum and park games, trick-or-treating, and a Scavenger Hunt. The highlight is the Monster March, where all the kids get to take over Main Street for a costume parade! New this year- a Halloween movie: enjoy two screenings in the school gym! For more information, click HERE
  • Boone Boo!
    Wednesday, 10/31, 5-6pm
    Located in downtown Boone, enjoy  games and crafts at the Watauga County Library, a spooky tour of the Jones House and trick or treating with downtown merchants. For more information, click HERE

    • Boone Mall Trick or Treating
      Wednesday, 10/31, 5-6pm
      Enjoy trick or treat at the stores in the mall.  Watauga Parks and Rec will have fun games and activities in the center of the mall.  ASU will be taking professional photos of your children dressed up for a fee.
    • AppState Trick or Treat for Tots
      Children of all age groups are encouraged to dress in their Halloween costumes to go trick-or-treating through Hoey, Cannon, Lovill, East, Doughton, White, Summit, and Cone residence halls. ASU students will be handing out candy and the hall lobbies will have fun activities designed for all ages. For more information, call 828-262-7096
    • Trick or Treat Halloween Spooktacular
      Wednesday, Oct 31, 5-7pm
      Stores will host a Monster Challenge Scavenger hunt where families find fun clues and complete a scavenger hunt card for a chance to win a $100.00 Tanger Shopping Spree!  A variety of fun activities are planned for the family such as a costume contest, a Touch-A-Truck meet and greet with local fire and police, and even a monster mash dance off in the courtyard.     • The Haunted Factory
      Every Fri-Sat until Halloween, 7-11pm
      The only haunted house attraction in West Jefferson featuring actors. For more information, click HERE


    • Wilkesboro Halloween Parade and Zombie Fest
      Saturday, Oct 20, 1-5pm, Main St.
      The Annual Halloween Parade in beautiful historic downtown Wilkesboro is back! Parade begins at 4; Vendors open at 3; Kids games begin after the parade- zombie passports will be sold for $5 and allow you to play all games (geared to 12 & under, but anyone can play.) For more information, click HERE
    • Hillside Horror
      Every Fri-Sat until Halloween, 7-11pm
      Take a hayride into the darkness and escape at Hillside Horror if you dare.  For more information, click HERE
    • Wilkes Heritage Museum Candlelight Ghost Tours
      October 20 & 31
