NC High Country Halloween 2020 Activities happen not just on Halloween night.  You can find NC High Country Halloween activities for all ages throughout the month of October 2020!  Here is a list of NC High Country Halloween 2019 events happening:


  • Beech Mountain Family Halloween Party
    Friday, Oct 30: 6-8pm
    Buckeye Recreation Center
    Come Trick or Treat on the track around the Buckeye Rec Center, then come inside for a family-friendly party! Geared towards kids 12 and under. Trick or Treat at 6:00, indoor party until 8:00 PM. For more information, click HERE

    Tuesday, Nov 3: 6-8pm

  • Creatures of the Night and Bonfire Delight
    Grandfather Mountain
    Visitors are familiar with Grandfather Mountain’s resident animals, including black bears, bald eagles, cougars, river otters and elk. But what do they do after dark? Find out at this nighttime event that features fun and spooky stories told by firelight, along with rare after-dark tours. For more information, click HERE


  • Ensemble Stage Presents: War of the Worlds
    Ensemble Stage Theater
    Come witness our interpretation of how the original broadcast went out over the air waves and caused panic in towns all across the country. You'll see and hear the actors perform, complete with sound effects being executed live on stage and supported by projections and lighting effects. However, our adaptation hits much closer to home! Instead of the attacks happening in New York and New Jersey, they'll be happening right here, in your own backyard, with Banner Elk and the NC High-Country as the epicenter of destruction.   • Banner Elk Trunk or Treat
    Historic Banner Elk School
    One of the most popular family Halloween events in the North Carolina High Country. Children (and adults) come dressed in costumes for a fun trick-or-treat experience from the trunks of vehicles. The festivities include a costume contest for kids, and a separate contest for four-legged friends. Be sure to check out the haunted house and hay rides.   • Beary Scary Halloween
    Grandfather Mountain
    Join us for a full day of nature programs about animals considered creepy and crawly! This fun-filled day includes an opportunity to create animal enrichment's, trick-or-treating through the animal habitats and a costume contest. Plus, children in costume are admitted at half-price.   • Haunted Horn: Stalker
    Hickory Ridge - Horn in the West

  • Blowing Rock Halloween Festival
    Saturday, 10/31, 3-8pm
    Downtown Blowing Rock 
    FREE activities at the Museum and park games, trick-or-treating, movies, and a Scavenger Hunt. The highlight is the Monster March, where all the kids get to take over Main Street for a costume parade! For more information, click HERE


  • Boone Boo!
    Downtown Boone
    Located in downtown Boone, enjoy  games and crafts at the Watauga County Library, a spooky tour of the Jones House and trick or treating with downtown merchants. For more information, click HERE


  • Boone Mall Trick or Treating
    Boone Mall
    Enjoy trick or treat at the stores in the mall.  Watauga Parks and Rec will have fun games and activities in the center of the mall.  ASU will be taking professional photos of your children dressed up for a fee. For more information, click HERE


  • AppState Trick or Treat for Tots
    Appalachian State University Dorms
    Parents and children will need to check-in at the East Hall parking lot (betweenEast Hall and Hwy. 321) to receive a map and further instructions for the eveningfestivities. Admission is one canned good to be given to a local charity. Parking is available in any campus faculty/staff parking lot. This event is open to community families. Children of all age groups are encouraged to dress in their Halloween costumes to go trick-or-treating through Hoey, Cannon, Lovill, East, Doughton, White, Summit, and Cone residence halls. ASU students will be handing out candy and the hall lobbies will have fun activities designed for all ages.   • Halloween at the King St Farmers Market
    Watauga Ad Extension, Downtown Boone
    Enjoy a costume contest, games, face painting, scavenger hunt and live well as fresh local produce, foods and crafts


  • Trick or Treat Halloween Spooktacular
    Sat, Oct 31, 5-7pm
    Tanger Outlet Mall
    Stores will host a Monster Challenge Scavenger hunt where families find fun clues and complete a scavenger hunt card for a chance to win a $100.00 Tanger Shopping Spree!  A variety of fun activities are planned for the family such as a costume contest, a Touch-A-Truck meet and greet with local fire and police, and even a monster mash dance off in the courtyard.     The Annual Halloween Parade in beautiful historic downtown Wilkesboro is back! Parade begins at 4; Vendors open at 3; Kids games begin after the parade- zombie passports will be sold for $5 and allow you to play all games (geared to 12 & under, but anyone can play.) For more information, click HERE
