Children ages 6 - 12 are invited to join us for creative art-making activities through a variety of media, from watercolor to clay. Each week features a famous artist, book, or theme to serve as inspiration and guidance for the art-making activity. ONLINE REGISTRATION is required.

THE WIZARD OF OZ

The historic art deco style Appalachian Theatre of the High Country is showing 1939 classic musical, The Wizard of Oz! This movie showing kicks off a month-long Classic Movie Musicals Film Series at the theatre.

GRILLIN’ & CHILLIN’
August 31, 6pm, Caddyshack Café, Sugar Mountain
Listen and dance to live music on the deck of the Caddyshack Café at the Sugar Mountain Public Golf Club. Top regional bands perform 6-9 PM. Free admission. Dinner and drinks are available to purchase beginning at 5:30. Lawn setting is also available so bring your own chair and enjoy sunset panoramic mountain views.

HAWKWATCH
September 1-30, Grandfather Mountain, Linville
All throughout September, guests are invited to join the mountain’s naturalists as they count and celebrate the annual spectacle of fall raptor migration. Participants can observe the migration daily at Linville Peak, across the Mile High Swinging Bridge, weather permitting. Included with admission.

GUIDED HIKE
September 1, 10-12, Buckeye Recreation Center, Beech Mountain
Please join a Buckeye Recreation Center guide for a hike on the Sassafras trail here on Beech Mountain. Hike will depart promptly at 10 AM from the Buckeye Recreation Center. Bring water and wear appropriate footwear. For more information please call 828-387-3003.

FOUR LEAF PEAT

“Tennessee’s Premier Traditional Irish Band,” Four Leaf Peat from Knoxville in the Volunteer State, will make their highly-anticipated return engagement to the High Country as part of the Summer Concert Series at historic St. John’s Church in Valle Crucisat 5 p.m. on Sunday, September 4, 2022. It will mark their first performance since they dazzled a standing-room-only audience in 2018.
