Chetola Resort becomes a Winter Wonderland with over 50,000 dazzling lights around Chetola lake and its surroundings. The festival is free and open to the public, with more information available at the gatehouse.

Glen Burney Falls Trail
The trail to these falls is said to be an ancient Native American pathway and descends steeply through John’s River Gorge. The trail is less than 2 miles long and offers several mini falls along the way that make for good photographs. The trailhead is located in the heart of Blowing Rock at Annie Gannon Park on Laurel Lane, just two blocks from Main Street. - Moses Cone Park Trails
These trails located in the Moses Cone Memorial Park on the Blue Ridge Parkway are ideal for winter hiking. They are well maintained with gravel, so are less likely to be muddy and slick! The trail system can also be accessed from multiple points even when the Blue Ridge Parkway is closed for winter travel. View detailed trail maps HER -

The hills seen at this locations are a favorite place for locals to sled on a nice snow day! (And since the parkway is usually closed when it snows, you can just park to the side of the road.) - High Gravity Adventures
