Fiddle Bows and Calico - Part II Strictly Strings and The Green Grass Cloggers Blowing Rock School Auditorium 7:30PM, Saturday, August 19, 2017 Strictly Strings is a young super talented band that has been wowing our JSMHM audiences for 5 years. The band features four very talented young musicians - Caleb Coatney(mandolin, banjo), Anissa Burnett(fiddle, bass), Kathleen Burnett(fiddle), Willow Dillon(fiddle, banjo, uke and bass) plus their instructor - Cecil Gurganus guitar). They represent one of the top success stories of the Junior Appalachian Musicians (JAM) programs in WNC. Cecil has been involved with JAM program for years and he is the musical mentor for all of the members of Strictly Strings. They are being welcomed back this season, sharing tonight's concert with The Green Grass Cloggers. For forty-six years, the two-time World Champion Green Grass Cloggers have been kicking up their heels with their own style of clogging in their home state of North Carolina, as well as across the country, and around the world. Inspired by traditional mountain-style clogging teams and influenced by Appalachian flatfooters and buckdancers, they developed an original, eclectic hybrid style of their own. They will be joined by renowned Boone clogger, Arthur Grimes.
