High Country Veterans Day Celebrations 2024
Veterans Day Celebrations will be happening throughout the NC High Country! To all the veterans- THANK YOU for your service. Here is a list of events happening in the Boone, Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, Beech Mountain, West Jefferson, Wilkesboro Area:
- VETERANS DAY EVENT

Celebrate our veterans with reenactments, demonstrations and historical activities throughout the cabins at Hickory Ridge.
- VETERAN'S DAY PROGRAM
November 11, 9am-12pm, Ashe Arts Council, Downtown West Jefferson
Come out for a time of fellowship with other Veterans and their families. Light refreshments will be provided. Brief program/ceremony starting at 10am.
- VETERAN'S DAY COMMEMORATION
November 11, 10:30am, Boone Mall, Boone
The ceremony will include participation of the Watauga Community Band offering a prelude concert commencing at 10:30. At 11:00, Watauga High School Marine Corps JROTC Color Guard will present the Colors. The Pledge of Allegiance, National Anthem and Invocation will follow with brief remarks honoring those who have served our Nation.

- VETERAN'S DAY PROGRAM
November 8, 1:30pm, West Wilkes Middle School, Wilkesboro
West Wilkes Middle School invites all members of the community to attend our annual Veterans Day Program on November 8, 2024 in the WWMS gym. Doors will open at 1:00 p.m. and the program will begin at 1:30. This year we are excited to announce that we will have a special performance from U.S. Army veteran and performer, Rockie Lynne. As always, our students will be collecting items for an organization that works with Veterans. This year, we are collecting dog food and dog treats for Saving Grace K-9s an organization that provides service dogs to veterans.
- FLAG RETIREMENT CEREMONY
November 9, 10:30am, Original Mast General Store, Valle Crucis
If you have a US flag in need of retirement, drop it off at the Mast Stores in Boone or Valle Crucis before October 30. Members of the public, active military personnel, and all veterans are invited to attend the ceremony.
